hi there! i’m vivian shen. i was born and raised in northern california and now live in new york city.

i create illustrations of things that bring me a feeling of deep calmness and comfort: home, food, and nature. i am attracted to illustration as a way of expression to further the comfort of the subjects by creating whimsy in ordinary things. i hope to bring feelings of comfort and play through my work.

i am drawn to the beauty of ordinary moments and things and freezing these moments with photography. i prefer film because it captures a moment just as i see and experience it with my own eyes, so i can return to it over and over again in my mind, and share it with you.
